In 2007 the UT Development Council created the Philanthropist of the Year award to recognize a donor whose gifts have had a profound impact on the University of Tennessee. David and Jane Bailey, both graduates of UT Knoxville, were the first recipients, in recognition of their gift to the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. The award was given by the President’s Council, beginning in 2014.
