The Faculty Senate voted on May 3, 1982, to include a study day each quarter between the end of classes and the start of the alternatives period (final exam period) beginning with the 1983–84 school year.

The 1909 sub-freshman class was the first in the institution’s history. Not one student was asked to leave for failing the majority of classes, and some made honors. Approximately half the class did not finish the course, but the remainder was allowed to enter the freshman class.

Professor Sublett joined the faculty of the university’s Department of Art in 1966 and retired in 1982. He worked in watercolors and oils, and his paintings have been exhibited in this country and abroad.
