International Club

The International Club was formed in 1958 as the outgrowth of many efforts by various groups to serve UT’s international student population. The organization was particularly interested in providing opportunities for the interaction of social, cultural, academic, and political ideas between American and international students.

The first “I-House” was a three-story former residence at 1601 Clinch Avenue renovated by UT as an International Student Center. It opened in February 1969. International Linkage Agreements

UT signed its first formal linkage agreement with an international university, Technische Hochschule Aachen, in 1964. The agreement was initiated by the Space Institute and provided for informal faculty and student exchanges and for the A. W. Quick/B. H. Chancellor Loren Crabtree announced in March 2003 the formation of the International Materials Institute, a joint UT College of Engineering-Oak Ridge National Laboratory Neutron Institute to be headed by UT’s Dr. Peter Liaw. International Student Exchange Program

ISEP is a university-to-university consortium arrangement that provides opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in one-year exchanges or direct attendance. ISEP programs are open to all academic fields. UT became active with ISEP in 1980.

Internet Live Sports Broadcasts

In 1996 the Vol Network was one of the first in college sports to begin making its football broadcasts available on the Internet.
