Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (Student Chapter)

Inter-Vols

The Inter-Vols was a steel-drum band sponsored by UT’s International House. The band began in September 1983 with the help of some local patrons who provided the pans. The Inter-Vols played at the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet, international festivals throughout the South, and at the 1984 Olympic Torch Relay celebration on campus.

Interactive Telecourses

In fall 1992 UT was brought online to offer interactive teleclasses, with classes broadcast from specially equipped rooms in the Communications and University Extension Building. In fall 1992 four classes were broadcast to Oak Ridge as part of the Oak Ridge Resident Graduate School’s offerings. Classes were also broadcast to Kingsport.
