Tennessee Presidents Center

In 1987 the projects to edit the papers of US President James K. Polk and those of US President Andrew Jackson moved to the UT campus, joining the ongoing project of editing President Andrew Johnson’s papers. At this time, the university, in recognition of the significance of being the only university in the United States to house the editing projects of papers of three US presidents, created the Tennessee Presidents Center. Publication of the 16th volume of the papers of Andrew Johnson completed that project in 2001, providing UT with a large residual collection of material valuable for additional research.
