The Innovative Computing Laboratory was founded in 1989 by Dr. Jack Dongarra, who came to UT as a distinguished professor in the Department of Computer Science and a distinguished scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The mission of the ICL since its establishment has been to be a world leader in enabling technologies and software for scientific computing. The ICL provides leading edge tools to tackle science’s most challenging high performance computing problems, and it plays a major role in the development of standards for scientific computing in general.
