UT departments and faculty were recipients of official gifts and items displayed during the fair. Among the items received were the following: Australia’s Windmills (non-power generating) were moved to the Cherokee Farm. China’s anaerobic digester (used to study the effects on wood by microorganisms in an oxygen-controlled area) was acquired by the Energy, Environment and Resources Center, along with the film on energy from the Canada Pavilion. The Eucalyptus tree from the Australian Pavilion went to the Botany Greenhouse. A set of pictures of Hungary’s famous mathematicians was donated to the Math Department. The Japanese Pavilion donated Japanese Festival (Hina Ningyo) dolls to UT, and the Italy Pavilion sent pen and ink drawings of ancient Rome. Mohammad Ansari of Universal Imports, Knoxville, donated an onyx Ewer and six cups from the Pakistani Shop. UT accepted a gift of Tang Dynasty tricolor glazed pottery on China Day at the fair, August 3. The Textiles Department of the College of Home Economics collected the official uniforms from the international pavilions and fair employees, and UT took possession of the Rubik’s cube.
