Women’s History Month

Women’s History Month has been celebrated at UT since 2005 under the leadership of the Women’s Coordinating Council and, more recently, the Ready for the World effort. The month traces its roots to the first International Women’s Day in 1911. In 1981 US Senator Orrin Hatch and US Representative Barbara Mikulski cosponsored the first Joint Congressional Resolution proclaiming a Women’s History Week in March. In 1987 Congress expanded the designation to the entire month of March.
