Wilma Jordan entered UT in 1966. In 1970 she and a group of UT students formed what eventually became 13-30 Corporation, a specialty magazine publisher. In 1979 the corporation bought Esquire, a magazine with strong tradition and a dismal balance sheet. The corporation moved Esquire’s finances into the black in 1983, when it was named Magazine of the Year. Jordan became chief operating officer of Esquire Magazine Group.

In 1985 the founding members of 13-30 sold their interests to a management buyout group led by Chris Whittle. She and Philip Moffet retained their interest in Esquire Magazine Group, and in 1986 she was the principal negotiator for the sale and transition of Esquire Magazine Group assets to four different buyers. In 1988 Jordan formed her own company, the Jordan Edmiston Group Inc. (JEGI). She is CEO of the media investment bank and is also a founding general partner and CEO of JEGI Capital, a venture capital affiliate of Jordan, Edmiston Group Inc. She was the 2000 recipient of the Financial Women’s Association of New York Entrepreneur Award and in 1999 was named Volunteer of the Year by UT. She is married to George Green, president of Hearst Magazines International.
