The All Campus Events Committee created the Volunteer Challenge in 1991. Student organizations compete in a weeklong campus-wide volunteer competition in which student organizations arrange volunteer projects with local agencies and groups. Groups submit an evaluation of their project, and the sponsoring agency also submits an evaluation. Points are awarded, and the winning organization receives a cup and a donation to the group’s charity of choice. This is the only ACE event that does not require an entry fee, and participating groups are diverse. The challenge was established to give students hands-on experience in volunteering.
