Visiting Professorship Program for African American and Female Faculty

In 1972 Walter Herndon, vice chancellor of academic affairs, announced a visiting professorship program to make possible short-term appointments of outstanding African American and female scholars who would be unwilling to leave their current positions but who might be willing to accept appointment for one or two quarters’ duration.
