UT ALERT Text Messaging System

In spring 2007 UT contracted with E2Campus, a mass notification and text messaging firm, to provide a secure system through which institutional emergency messages could be sent to email addresses, cell phones, PDAs, and pagers. There was no cost for students, faculty, and staff to participate in the ALERT system, and no advertising content was permitted. The service allowed up to thirty-five thousand subscribers at an annual cost of $24,000.
