Members of the University Concerts’ Usher Corps made their first appearance at the Jepson-Martini concert on October 15, 1938, attired in tuxedos. Over one hundred men applied for the positions; 57 were selected. Six women were added to the Usher Corps in 1939. Members were annually selected from among applicants by the head ushers. The Student-Faculty Organizations Board received applications and arranged a banquet to honor Usher Corps members. The group also had “Head Hostesses” and “Hostesses.”
