University Scholarships were established as an award for Tennessee freshman students entering UT who scored 26-28 on the ACT test (or 1170 to 1270 on the SAT) and who had a core high school average of 3.75 or above. These partial scholarships are designed to recognize outstanding high school performance on the part of students who do not qualify for the Volunteer Scholarships. In 2006 eligibility for these scholarships was extended to students transferring from Tennessee community colleges who met the requirements for first-year students. The program was combined into the Volunteer Scholarship program for fall 2015.
