In honor of athletics trainer Tim Kerin, the University of Tennessee Campus Ministries’ Council and the Athletics Department annually sponsor a special food collection at one of the home football games to aid Second Harvest Food Bank. The drive is targeted toward providing emergency food baskets for needy families during the holidays. As a special incentive, Tim’s Tennessee Power Towel, the brainchild of former Vol center Glenn Streno, is offered in exchange for a requested donation of $5 or more. The drive was begun in 1992 (the year of Kerin’s death) and was first organized by Father John Ardis of the John XXIII Catholic Center. Kerin had been a member of the John XXIII parish.
