Following reports of two sexual assaults at the beginning of the fall semester in 2014, UT police began the practice of sending UT alerts any time a sexual assault was reported. After the alert on August 29, the student organization Sexual Empowerment and Awareness at Tennessee expressed concern that the language used placed blame on the victim rather than on the accused. SEAT representatives met with the UTPD, and wording was modified for alerts.
