Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville (SPEAK) and Citizens for a Pedestrian-Friendly Campus sponsored a rally at the University Center Plaza just prior to the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s public hearing in the UC Ballroom on March 16, 2000, at which the final design of the bridge was unveiled.
