Plans for a $750,000 UT basketball hall of fame slated for Thompson-Boling Arena were put on hold in November 1994 by Athletics Director Doug Dickey. The board of trustees approved the installation in October. Student Government Association President Matthew Gregory led expressions of student dissatisfaction with the process by which the facility was taken to the board without going through the Athletics Board and other committees that should have examined it. Following Gregory’s Daily Beacon stand, the Faculty Senate also condemned the process.
