In early 1994 the Student Government Association formally issued a request to have the results of the Chancellor’s Teacher Evaluation Program (CTEP) made available to students, rather than solely to the instructor and the department head. SGA’s separate evaluation had received cooperation from slightly less than half of the departments, and its request to have an additional six questions added to CTEP and to make the analysis of answers to those six questions available to students was denied by the Faculty Senate. A compromise was reached after the SGA asked for all results of previous evaluations under the Open Records Law. While evaluations were destroyed after being furnished to the faculty member and department head, results from fall 1993, spring 1994, and fall 1994 were still on file. The compromise opened the records to students and added three student members to the Faculty Senate’s Task Force on evaluation of the CTEP process.
