Because of the 13 percent impoundment required to operate within funds available, library hours were cut back, with the result that the library would close at 10:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and be closed on Saturday. Students were vocal in their belief that library hours should be restored, and the Student Government Association organized a student rally attracting over four hundred protestors at the library at 10:30 p.m. Chancellor Quinn announced that because enrollment had exceeded projections, the $90,000 required partially to restore library hours at Hodges Library would be made available, and the library would be open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 1:00–5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. to midnight on Sunday. The second floor study area was to be open 24 hours every day.
