University Concerts, a nonprofit organization that operated within the framework of the university to bring to campus outstanding entertainment, booked The Chad Mitchell Trio for homecoming. Jerre Haskew, president of the Nahheeyayli board contended, and the Student Government Association agreed, that homecoming was a date traditionally reserved for Nahheeyayli entertainment and that the booking of a folk-style group by University Concerts was blatant competition with Nahheeyayli. The SGA joined the Nahheeyayli board in stating that the Nahheeyayli date had been stolen by University Concerts and that University Concerts departed from its own field and tradition in the case. Ralph Frost, manager of University Concerts, contended that there was no tradition involved. The SGA promised to organize a boycott of any such competing event scheduled by University Concerts in the future.
