Student Issue, 1891—Article in the University Student

In February 1891, while the regular editor of the University Student was being replaced by a temporary editor, an article previously rejected by the regular editor, “Rationalism—A Necessity,” was printed. A large number of students were concerned that the general public would believe that the article represented their views, and a majority of the students turned out on the Hill and went room to room, collecting the copies of the magazine that had been distributed. They then burned the copies on the parade field.
