Southern University Debating Association

In the academic year 1909–10, the university joined the Southern University Debating Association, an association proposed by the University of Arkansas and composed, at the time, of the state universities of Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, and Mississippi (in the order in which they signed the constitution). Each institution furnished annually two teams of two students, for an annual debate tournament.
