In September 1985 the university center initiated the Student Computer Access and Learning Environment (SCALE) computer laboratory in 248-49 of the center, offering students access to IBM PCs and to both letter quality and dot matrix printers. The center was open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 8:00 p.m., Sunday. Cost to use the equipment was four cents per minute for computer use and one cent per minute for printer use. SCALE also offered classes in use of word processing software.
