Ronald Nutt

Dr. Nutt earned the BS in electrical engineering in 1961, the MS in 1962, and the PhD in 1969. He and three other colleagues founded Computer Technology Imagery (later CTI Molecular Imaging) in 1983. The company became a leading provider of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) equipment, molecular imaging biomarkers, and services. Its subsidiary, Concorde Microsystems, became a leader in small animal PET systems for imaging laboratory animals used in research.

Nutt holds more than 30 patents, with others pending. In 1993 he was presented the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers’ Region III Outstanding Engineer Award. In 1997 he received the Nathan W. Dougherty Award from the UT College of Engineering. In 1999 Nutt was named Distinguished Scientist of the Year by the Institute of Clinical PET. CTI Molecular Imaging and all subsidiaries were acquired by Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc. in 2005.
