Ronald Schlicher (BA History, 1978; JD, 1981) was sworn in as ambassador to Cyprus in December 2005 and assumed the post in 2006. He served from 2006 to 2008. Schlicher entered the Foreign Service in January 1982. Prior to being named ambassador, he was a deputy assistant secretary and coordinator for Iraq, and during the 2004 war with Iraq, he was director of the Iraq Task Force. He has received the Distinguished Honor Award, three Superior Honor Awards, two Meritorious Honor Awards, a National Human Intelligence Collector Award, and the Christian A. Herter Award.
