The football equipment room in Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex was named the Roger Frazier-Max Parrott Equipment Room in ceremonies held on January 25, 2003. Their classmate, Memphian Gordon Summerfield, made a gift to the STEP UP campaign for athletics facilities that resulted in the naming of the equipment room for equipment manager Roger Frazier and assistant equipment manager Max Parrott. Frazier, a native of Cleveland, joined the Athletics Department staff in 1983. The equipment manager is responsible for all football equipment and its maintenance, as well as for purchase and inventory control of all game and practice gear. Parrott, from Soddy-Daisy, joined the staff in 1985. His duties included repair of equipment as well as the laundering of gear.
