Robert A. Whitford

Robert Whitford received the BS in 1940. A flying cadet in the army air corps, he died in a crash at Hicks Field, Texas, on May 12, 1941, almost seven months before the United States entered World War II. An auxiliary flying field at Hicks was named in his memory. Hicks Field was deactivated in July 1944 and is now an industrial park.
