Seven UT alumni have been named Rhodes Scholars. Dr. Bernadotte Schmitt (BA chemistry, 1904; also a Pulitzer Prize winner) was the first to be selected as a Rhodes Scholar in 1905. Other UT alumni selected include Matthew G. Smith (1911), Arthur P. Whitaker (1917), William Everett Derryberry (1928), Nancy-Ann Min (1979), Jennifer Santoro (1994), and Lindsay E. Lee (2013).
