Powerlifting Collegiate World Records

At the 1991 National Collegiate Powerlifting Championships in Oklahoma City, two UT students set a total of six collegiate world records.  Gabe Hannah, a senior in wildlife and fishery sciences and a cheerleader for women’s intercollegiate athletics, set four records in the 165-pound weight class. His lifts totaled 1,299 pounds—he had a 518-pound squat, a 303-pound bench press, and a 478-pound dead lift. Derek Lee, a senior in biomedical engineering and the 1990 Tennessee State Powerlifting Champion, set two collegiate records in the 198-pound class. His records were set with a 590-pound squat and 601-pound dead left.
