On May 2, 1925, the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa national educational fraternity was installed at UT. The fraternity admitted graduate students and juniors and seniors engaged in education as a life career. Phi Delta Kappa was chartered in March 1911 at Indianapolis. It was formed through the amalgamation of Phi Kappa Mu (founded in 1906 at Indiana University) and Phi Delta Kappa (organized in 1908 at Columbia University).
