Persian Gulf War Memorial Service

The North Carrick Residents’ Association and the United Residence Halls Council sponsored a memorial service honoring the 12 servicemen from Tennessee who were killed during the Persian Gulf War on March 3, 1992. Major General Carl D. Wallace, retired adjutant general of the Tennessee National Guard, who was then serving as chancellor of Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, was the speaker. The director of the university center was presented with a plaque listing the names and hometowns of those who died, for placement in the university center. The ceremony ended with a candlelit moment of silence, the ROTC’s presentation of “Taps” and colors, and a benediction.
