Parking Garage—Eleventh Street

The parking garage at the corner of Eleventh Street and Cumberland Avenue, built with capacity for one thousand cars, opened for fall semester 2004. The bridge across Cumberland Avenue to the Hill was part of that project.

Solar panels were installed on top of the garage in spring 2015 as a teaching and research project. Eaton, a solar energy corporation, provided inverters to connect the solar panels to the electric grid for the project. A display in the parking garage showed the energy produced by the panels. Data from the panels, the 12 electric vehicle chargers on campus, and the West Tennessee Solar Farm were used for teaching and research by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
