The UT Parents Association was formed in summer 2002 to serve as a resource for parents of UT students. The association published the first parents’ handbook and the “Tennessee Family Newsletter” in 2002. The tradition of a fall “family weekend” began the same year, and the Spring Family Weekend debuted in 2008. The “Tennessee Family Newsletter” became the Tennessee Family Magazine in fall 2007. The association provides a parents’ helpline to answer questions and to respond to specific parent requests and administers a scholarship fund—the Parents and Families Fund, composed of money donated by parents and families.
