The UT Athletics Department and the Tennessee Fund announced formation of the Tennessee Always Society on November 20, 2013. The society membership consists of individuals who have created an endowment benefitting the UTAD or who have included UTAD in their estate plans.

The UT Knoxville Alumni Office initiated the Tennessee Apprentice Program in spring 2009. Alumni hosts mentor a student for a day in their workplace.  In its first year of operation, more than 100 students applied and over 30 students were matched with alumni in their fields of interest.

The first issue of “Tennessee Audio-Visual News,” a monthly newsletter of the Division of University Extension, was published in January 1941. It listed new additions to its film library, which provided films to schools and civic organizations.  It also listed UT radio broadcasts.

In 1925 the Volunteer began a tradition of including pictures of the most beautiful women students. Contestants were initially drawn from towns, groups, and sororities. Later they were drawn from sororities, the Independent Students Association, and other student organizations.
