September 11, 2001, Terrorist Attacks—Thirteenth-Year Commemoration

In 2014 the UT Chapter of Young Americans for Freedom organized the placement of 2,977 American flags on the lawn near the McClung Tower to mark the 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Over one hundred YAF affiliates took part in the nationwide Never Forget Project on college campuses.

Sexual Assault Task Force

Chancellor Cheek appointed a Sexual Assault Task Force in fall 2014 composed of community members, students, faculty, and staff to revise UT’s sexual assault and misconduct policies. The appointment of the task force followed the issuance by Cheek of an interim sexual assault policy, including an affirmative consent provision.
