On November 28, 1947, UT’s local men’s honorary leadership society, Circle and Torch, became the Beta Nu Circle of the national men’s honorary society Omicron Delta Kappa. ODK membership recognized leadership in campus activities. The society was founded nationally on December 3, 1914, at Washington and Lee University. UT’s ODK chapter first initiated women in 1976.
