The creation of UT’s Obesity Research Center was announced on August 24, 2007. The center was designed to bring together UT professors from disciplines across the campus to study the possible causes and treatments of obesity. The first codirectors were faculty members David Bassett, professor of exercise, sport, and leisure studies, and Naima Moustaid-Moussa, professor in nutrition and biochemistry.
