Egyptologist Prince Boris de Rachewiltz, (Boris Baratti) founder and president of the Ludwig Keimer Foundation for Comparative Research in Archaeology and Ethnology, lectured on campus in May 1972 on “Siglimassa: The Gold Capital of the Desert.” While on campus, he presented a solid gold medal, the Minerva Medal from the Keimer Foundation, to Chancellor Archie Dykes for excellence in academic leadership. Baratti was the son-in-law of Ezra Pound.
