Following rejection of entries in a competition to develop a new facility for Liechtenstein’s parliament in 2000, a second competition chose the design submitted by the firm of UT Architecture Associate Professor Hansjörg Göritz. The design won the Prime Laureate 2010 Wienerberger Brick Award. The structure was selected from 260 nominees from 32 countries. For the State Parliament and a connecting forum, 680,000 specially customized bricks of exclusively yellow ochre were used in constructing the two new buildings. The project was completed in 2008 and is located in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, at the foot of castle hill below the residence of the regent and next to the official residence of the head of the principality’s government.
