Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. was founded December 1, 1975, at Kean College in Union, New Jersey. In fall 2001 a group was formed to pursue acquisition of a chapter at UT, and a colony was established at UT on March 15, 2003. The mascot of the fraternity is El Conquistador, and the fraternity is a member of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations Inc. The colors of the fraternity are brown and white, and the philanthropy is the Lambda Foundation. Among notable alumni are Agustin “Gus” Garcia and New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez.
