The Knoxville-Oak Ridge Regional Network went online in spring 1996. KORRnet operated as an independent, nonprofit, community electronic network serving a multiple-county region in East Tennessee. It was established through UT and originally resided on campus. It operated an independent, nonprofit portal to web-based resources, which in fall 2005 was renamed DiscoverET.org. KORRnet provided civic, community, business, and cultural information and also offered website hosting.
