The Beta Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi was established at UT on March 29, 1949, as the 55th chapter of the national organization. Kappa Kappa Psi is an honorary band fraternity that recognizes leadership. It was founded on the campus of Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) University on November 2, 1919. The national publication of Kappa Kappa Psi is the Podium. The colors of Kappa Kappa Psi are blue and white, and the flower is the red carnation. The formation of the UT chapter was an outgrowth of a previous local band organization Con Moto (with direction).
