Theta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity was installed at UT in 2012. The fraternity is an African American social service fraternity founded in 1963 at Morgan State College (now University). Its motto is “Building a tradition, not resting upon one.” Its colors are charcoal brown and gilded gold; its symbol is the centaur; and its flower is the yellow rose.
