The information booth on Circle Park was built in summer 1976. The need for an information booth had been identified for several years, and a variety of solutions had been offered—one of which was to build a drive-through structure on the grassy circle in front of Dunford Hall, which would be staffed by personnel assigned by the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center as part of their ongoing work involving recovery from accidents and strokes. The decision was made to locate the booth on Circle Park and to staff it with UT employees. The booth was originally staffed by security personnel, and its staffing was later assumed by Parking Services, since its principal function had been discovered to be requests for parking passes for Circle Park and other parking information.
