On May 29, 1977, the Marian G. Heard Crafts Collection was dedicated to Professor Heard, who began the systematic crafts program in the College of Home Economics in 1936 as a collection of the Carolyn P. Brown University Center. The collection is of student, faculty, and regional crafts. The crafts program became part of the School of Art in 1978.
