UT’s chapter of Amnesty International held a Gulu Walk on October 21, 2006, to promote awareness of a two-decade-long war in the East African country of Uganda. Walkers sought to bring two situations to the attention of people on campus for the UT-Alabama football game—the abductions of some twenty thousand children and the two million people living in camps known as Internally Displaced Persons Camps in Northern Uganda.
