The Grief Outreach Initiative was established in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences in October 2008. Dean Bob Rider initiated the program following his encounter during reading to students at a Knox County School with a child whose parents had recently died. The program of the Educational Psychology and Counseling Department provides UT student mentors to children and teens suffering from grief in the Knox County area and provides counseling experience for undergraduate and doctoral students.
