In 1991 Joan Cronan and Ann Baker Furrow (the only women to receive a UT men’s athletic scholarship and to play on a men’s varsity team [golf]) began the task of gathering the funding and support for establishment of a Women’s Intercollegiate Golf Team for 1992. The first women’s golf scholarship recipient, Angie Boyd (Keck), was named, and Coach Linda Franz (Sower) was assisted by volunteer golf coach Ann Furrow in the 1992 inaugural year.
