Dr. Wayne Davis, dean of UT’s College of Engineering, and Dr. Hazel O’Leary, president of Fisk University, signed an agreement on May 23, 2011, establishing a dual degree program in science and engineering. The five-year program, which began in fall 2011, provided for students to spend their first three years of college at Fisk as math or science majors and then transfer to UT for two years to complete engineering degrees. Upon successful completion of the program, students receive two bachelor’s degrees—one from each entity.
To participate in the program, Fisk students were required to maintain a 2.8 cumulative average and a C grade or better in specific courses. They also were required to meet the general entrance requirements of UT’s College of Engineering and be recommended by Fisk.
